NECPS Meetings and Events

Meetings, unless otherwise noted, are held from 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm at the Roger Williams Park Botanical Center, 1000 Elmwood Ave., Providence, RI. (NECPS meetings are no longer being held on the 2nd Saturday of the month.) (directions) . Regular program segments include: bog pruning, a speaker or workshop, plant displays, refreshments, most have a silent autction, and informal social discussion.

Meetings are free and open to the public, who are warmly welcomed.

  • January 20 - Nepenthes Cutting & Propagation Workshop led by NECPS President Dave Sackett
  • February 10 (10am-4pm) - Harvard Museum of Natural History Science Fest. Kadeem Gilbert and Emmi Kurosawa presenting.
  • February 17 - Bog Cleaning and Maintenence. Members will receive a free Utricularia plant!
  • March 14-18 - The Boston Flower Show, Bolston MA
  • March 17 - Aaron Ellison PhD will give a lecture on Scientific advances with Darwin's "most wonderful plants in the world".
  • April 21 - Sarracenia division/bog building workshop given by Laurelin Sitterly and the NECPS Spring Plant Sale
  • May 19 - Logee's Green Houses, North Street, Danielson, CT
  • June 2, 9am - 2pm - Spring Plant Sale, Tower Hill Botanic Garden, Boylston, MA
  • June 16 - UCONN Biodiversity Education & Research Greenhouses, and a local bog walk courtesy of Dr. Matt Opel
  • July 21 - Ponkapoag bog walk, Canton, MA and Mike Stiffler's BBQ
  • August 18 - Annual Show planning and discussion, Tower Hill Botanic Garden, Boylston, MA
  • September 8th & 9th - 15th Annual NECPS Carnivorous Plant Show,Tower Hill Botanic Garden, Boylston, MA
  • October 20 - Post show discussion and pest/fungi control discussion
  • November 3 - Lecture on the genus Pinguicula
  • December 1 - Annual Holiday Gathering and Yankee Swap and end of the year member plant sale
